Monica is the Founder at Proven Connnections Group. She has worked in the construction industry for 7 years and been a member of NAWIC for 4 years. She is currently serving on the Board of Directors.

Why did you join NAWIC?

I knew first-hand that industry educational organizations were vital to my professional and personal growth. I belonged to a gas and oil industry organization for 11 years and was on the National Board. Once I transitioned over to the construction industry, I knew I had to join NAWIC. I have made great connections, continue to learn, and being part of the Board allows me to direct my professional growth. I love the opportunities to network with other women in all aspects of our industry. Most of our experiences can be unique but at the same time we can relate as well. I enjoy sharing information about NAWIC to women I interact with through my business.

What do you love about working in construction?

I love to problem solve, so my construction projects allow me to show case my ability to come up with different solutions to an issue, but most importantly how our preplanning can avoid or minimize any issues. Seeing a project to an idea to completion is very rewarding knowing that my experience/expertise added value to the project.

Why do you continue participating with NAWIC?

The personal and professional relationships I have built - they have become a valuable support group. I can reach out for professional advice. Now that I have my own company, I had contract and accounting questions and I was given direction by a few members. I met a student and her mom at one of the meetings and I have become a mentor for her and a friend to her mom. The connections are real!
